Yes. Sri Lanka is the only country where Sinhala people can live as their own. And yes it is a buddhist country, no doubt about it. And it has been a Buddhist country even from the King Ravana's era.

But Sri Lanka doesn't belong *only* to Sinhala or/and Buddhist people.

Major Muthalif (Intelligence) was a Muslim.
Maj Gen Densil Kobbakaduwa was a Buddhist.
And currently, half of the top officials in Army are Christians.

So there is an equal stake in everything. Sri Lanka is (Or it should be) a land of Unity for me

exactly... Sri Lanka Belongs to Sri Lankans. And Sri Lankan community includes many races who follow many religions. The majority of sri lankans are sinhalese buddhists. And our culture is unique to us. And everyone must respect Sri Lanka as a Buddhist State and that must be unchallenged. And the majority must respect the rights of the minority. I am sad to say that every community has extremists. And i know many of our leaders did not make the rights of minorities a priority.

And i ask for forgiveness from everyone our there if that attitude from our leaders have affected them negatively(1983)

But times are changing. We have learned.. by we i mean all sri lankans. Let us unite and build Lanka.

I said this because the start of the current conflict started with the disfiguring the face of truth and by making up a history that did not excist. Yes I am accusing Sri Jawaharlal Nehru too.

Christians Buddhists Muslims and Hindus must all be able to stand against Fundamentalism which i fear has started to creep into our "unique" culture also.
