An executive at Google was killed when a 7.8-magnitude earthquake rocked Nepal on Saturday morning and started an avalanche on Mount Everest, where he was part of a climbing team, his family said.

Dan Fredinburg was climbing Everest with a Jagged Globe expedition team when he suffered a fatal head injury, according to Jagged Globe and his family. He was one of at least 10 people killed on Everest and more than 1,300 people killed across Nepal in the quake.

Fredinburg’s sister shared the news of his death on social media:

just because he worked for google doesn't mean we have to treat him like someone special, there were more than 1000 people who died of this incident
    what about them?

this article doesn't say treat him so special like a god or someone,it clearly mentions about someone who worked for a popular company. so in next time make sure you read the article before commenting.

i did but why mention his name and whole other info when 1300+ people died?? mention their names as well! not just his! you think its fair giving someone like this priority when whole bunch of people passed away? after all every one is human!
this is like when paul walker died, every one was going crazy because he passed away and barely mentioned the driver(Roger).

mentioning his name doesn't give him a special privilege, the newspaper mentioned his name because he is a popular one and he worked for a popular company so basically it's all about the popularity not about special treatment but all other 1300+ died people are unknown people to world. if you want the society to emphasize your name, then be a popular person.

first of all, that's what i mentioned(someone special) just because he's popular he gets his name all over media. i didn't say he has some kinda privileges, he's dead anyway, its not like he's gonna know -.-. it doesn't matter whether you are popular or not people are dead, you have to respect them and their families as well not only one persons' life and how his sister is sad about it! i'm not saying you're wrong but our society is. don't you see how the article is written giving the attention to this one person and saying there are 1300+ are dead? seriously? the rest aren't human or what? if i wanna be popular i will while i'm alive, i don't want anyone to know me after i'm dead! and you didn't answer my question is it fair for other families who lost their loved ones?

stop being so butthurt, his name is all over the paper because he is popular ,the rest of people ain't popular beside even if their names are on the paper no one will know so it goes waste.

i'm just saying it's not fair! end of story! thanks :)

you get respect, popularity when you climb up the social ladder ,when you have more money you are rich, when you have more reputation you are popular and that's how the society works. it's obviously fair , as an example when soma thera died it was a huge news on papers so you might say,oh he is just a guy how come he has a big name on the paper but not other people who died, it's a total bs. when you have more reputation you deserve for a big name in the society, and that's why we work hard day and night to have a good reputation in the society. you work for money and reputation.

according to your logic no one can ever write an article about anyone dead because in every minute hundreds of people are dying on this planet so if someone want to write an article he/she should write about all of them right?

stop stating the obvious :P i know when you have more money you are rich and when you have reputation you are known. so you're saying we should work hard to be popular and rich? i get the rich part but why popular so you can be known after you're dead like this dude? yes money has power over everything, that's what's wrong with society!
