Gov. protests island wide

The government has orgainised island wide protests against a proposed resolution due to be presented at the UN Human Rights Council sessions in Geneva against Sri Lanka next week.

Minister Wimal Weerawansa said that the US was presenting the resolution and they were already canvassing for support from other countries.

He said that the island wide protests will be held next Monday.

The constituent parties of the government today said it would bring hundreds of thousands of people to Colombo on Monday in support of the government to thwart the US, UK and Canada led attempt to pass a resolution against Sri Lanka at the annual UNHRC sessions in Geneva.
