The Government will hold Provincial Council elections in the five provinces possibly on a single day said Media Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena yesterday (19).
The Minister denied the rumours regarding a snap General Election, pointing out that the Government enjoys a comfortable majority in the house.
The Government has a majority of over 42 votes in Parliament whereas the People's Alliance Government led by former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga only had a majority of one vote, stated the Minister.
