June 22, Colombo: Sri Lankan Transport officials are planning to introduce a new pre-paid card system to be used as a bus ticket.
The National Transport Commission (NTC) said that they have taken all the initial steps to introduce this new system.
Two private companies had already submitted applications to provide the machines and pre-paid cards for the buses.
Under the first stage of the programme, the new GPRS enabled ticket system will be implemented on bus routes in the Western Province.
