Back in the day Graphic cards had set clock speeds. Always ran the same frequency. There was a risk overclocking these ones. I burned 3 cards back in the day related to overclocking issues 9600GT 9800GTX GTX560 ( About 12-15 years ago)

Now the cards are much advance in the tech. They have dynamic frequency. When not in use they stay at a low frequency. Then clocks go up as you use them in a demanding task. You can change these settings using overclocking software to your liking. Even go exceed the default settings. Even when you overclocking you are not going over the spec as the card is already have set parameters how much they can go.

NVidia and AMD has slightly different approaches. In AMD cards you can even adjust core voltage to undervolt the card and save power. I had RX6800 and RX6600X cards running at very low power for my mining operation about 2 years ago. Most efficient cards for mining when it was a hype (You cant find these info on Internet as most people just by Nvidia for the hype)

Overclock කරලා performance වැඩි කරගන්න පුලුවන්, ඒ වෙනුවට power consumption එක heat එක වැඩිවෙනවා. දැන් එන GPU වල factory එකෙන්ම OC version එනවා, ඒ නැතත් GPU එකට damage එකක් නොවී MSI Afterburner වගේ එකකින් overclock කරගන්න පුලුවන් තරමක් දුරට. හොඳ cooling system එකක් නැත්නම් heat එක වැඩිවෙලා thermal throttle වෙනවා, එතකොට normal performance එකවත් ගන්න බෑ. GPU වලට එන heatsink, fans වෙනුවට liquid coolers වගේ දාලා සාමාන්‍ය ප්‍රමාණයට වඩා overclock කරගන්න පුලුවන්. Cooling අවුල් නම් GPU එකට damage වෙන්න පුලුවන්
