Unidentified men opened fire at the residence of a UNP Municipal Council member in Matale town last night, but no injuries were caused, a party spokesman said.
On the previous day a UPFA supporter had come to the members house and threatened him calling to withdraw support to Gen Sarath Fonseka.
He had lodged a complaint on Friday.
The MMC was not in his house at the time of the shooting, but his family members were in.
