Half life 2 eipsode 2 error

I recently got my hands on half life 2 episode 2.But it seems that theres an error at the very begining!!. at the place where Alyx talks with her father and Dr Cliner game freezes and an error message pops up saying ''THE INSTRUCTION AT 0X139E8F3F REFERENCED MEMORY AT 0X0E29F3C0 THE MEMORY COULD NOT BE READ CLICK TO TERMINATE THE PROGRAM''


now I tried updating my graphics driver, DirectX freeing up virtual memory and using tricks which i found in the web from others who had faced this kind of situation.But nothing seems to be working

so can anyone help me out?

My pc is 2.6 dual core
1gb ram
geforce 6200 vga

Maybe your game disk/files are corrupted.

Because i have played that game without any problem with my p4.

Btw did you played Half life 2 and Halflife 2 episode one ?

No I dont think its file corruption.Cause the same DVD(orange box) works fine in my friend's pc. I even reformatted my HDD to run this but still no solution..


And, yeah I finished both half life2 and HL2 episode 1

I found that making virtual memo abt 4gb can help too.


btw can u play PORTAL from that orange box dvd?

this problem seem to be very popular with most gamers.
Hav u overclocked ur pc/ ram timing?

Yeah I played both just fine on this system

and I also increased my virtual memory up to 4 Gb too

but still

PORTAL is a weird game isn't it? found it quite interesting

seems i hv a problem too!! i cant install HF2 Ep2 to anyother driver bt C:/!!! it says .exe not found!!!

Anyway update your situation, i hope it'll be corrected by windows updating.

It was so interesting i couldnt resist but to make a mobile phone theme for it.

It seems they are only testing this portal thing in this version of HL2 Ep2. there are rumors however that they will include in the Episode 3

yeah I saw it its COOL

Still trying to run this thing. If this doesn't work might as well wait till I get a better PC. I'm pretty sure this has something to do with my VGA
