    ela kirians,

i need a big help. if anyone here works at CEB or knows how things work in getting a new electricity connection please give me a solution for the following matter.

my maha gedara is under by fathers name, who has passed away sometime ago. the house has a separate building with a separate වරිපනම් number. other than the house and the separate building, there's another small annex kind of a thing, fully separated from the main house, with a room and a small kitchen. that does not have a වරිපනම් number and not in the plan as well.

i am planning to rent the small annex and i need to get a separate electricity connection for it. i know it is not possible to get an electricity connection to a building with out a වරිපනම් number.

the process of getting a connection to the annex, properly is giving me head aches.

i was thinking if i request a new connection to the building with වරිපනම්, will i be able to some how ask the CEB guys to fix the connection to the annex?? all three buildings are very close by. the land is about 27 perch, and the electricity lines go along the boundary, so no issues in distance wise.

    Any ideas????
any help on this is appreciated??

English walin gahuwe leesi nisa OK...

Machan you will need to have a separate assessment tax number to request for a separate connection plus the two houses must have separate entrances. If there are internal access paths you won't get separate connections.

If you request a separate connection for the house for which you have already obtained a separate assessment tax number, if you plan properly you will be able to get that connection fixed to your annex (which is of course not a correct and ethical thing to do).

Else you can fix the meter to the house with the separate assessment tax number but do the wiring so that, the connection you obtained will power up your annex only.

At the time of giving the connection CEB will check your house wiring, later you can easily change it only to power the annex. (This is also not ethical but a win win situation)

You get a separate electricity meter for the annex.
Your Maha gedara and separate house are supplied by the already installed meter.
People in the annex get separate electricity bill.
CEB would be happy to provide separate electricity meter since you have separate assessment number.

This way you can get your requirement fulfilled without letting CEB know what you are doing.

P.S. There will be other ways also to get this done.
