I forgot the lock code on my nokia e71. I read the thread, installed NSS, but the phone does not want to connect to my PC. It appears for about 3 seconds in device manager and disappears(I am on win XP). Nokia PC suite does not see the phone at all. Is this because of the lock code being activated? Or am I having a driver problem? I called NOkia and they told me to send it it to get reflashed. There must be a better way! Please help! I need this phone a my address book, as I am traveling to a wedding in India.

you can try resetting your phone through codes. its the safe way to reset your phone. because when you reset your phone through software or hardware there are possibilities for data getting corrupted or lost. but there is no such possibilities when you reset through codes. thats y i prefer this method to reset my phone. i got the codes from this site Unlocking4Free.com to reset my phone. try it

Nokia BB5 Security Code Unlocking

Follow below steps.
1) Download Nemesis Service Suite (NSS) and install it.
2) Connect your BB5 Phone with USB Cable as you connect with the PC suite
3) Run NSS
4) Click the "Scan for new devices" button at the right top corner.

5) Goto Phone info >> Permanant Memory >> Read
6) Wait until the software reads the per. memory and finally you will get this msg. PM backup saved to: C:\Program Files\NSS\Backup\pm\xxxxxxxxxx.pm
7) Upload that file and send the link here.
8) We can generate the security code for you.
