help to buy a HDD enclosure

    Where I'm now
    If u hav USB 1.1 It sucks.Got USB 2. then it might be ok.Remember turn off autorun,if not ure in trouble.Usually they will support upto 200 GB IDE drives.Never connect a Optical drive if it says ok to connect.They r not capable of copying deep folder structures.If u ask qs I'll give As.

    I knw.Just asked.What r ur Qs about HDD enclosures.I'll tell u about Gemini and Prolink[cant remember] brands for e.g if u want.They r good If u want to connect HDDs without opening the case.Also u can have a cable and a power adapter without the enclosure.

    I saw the IDE to USB cable,but the problem is frm where do I hv to giv power,do I have to gt power port by opening up the casing again???

    You get a power adapter + power cable with the USB-2-IDE cable. You have to power it up from outside.

    Okie..If you have to connect the IDE hards that enclosure is good and it must be powered frm outside.
    There is a rare gadget which one of my frnds have that can connect only to Laptop hards and it is powered by another USB port.So there must be two ports of USBs to use that.If u are not short on the cash by a Portable HardDisk Drive Which only needs to be connected to the USB.40GB will cost you 7000 in SL,80 8000 and 100GB 10000 respectively..

    I don't see anyone going for the 40GB HDD if those prices are accurate. :)

    machan mainly I do data recovering and backing-up stuffs.
