This should do it:

Right click on it and take Explore (which should now open it normally)
Look in it for an Autorun.inf file and delete it (possibly got there
from a CD).

If it fails to open on Explore; Use TweakUI - one of the XP Powertoys
from
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp

Once installed you will find it in Start - All Programs - Powertoys for
Windows XP

Look in its My Computer - Autoplay - Drives and uncheck C:
and Apply (probably worth doing anyway on any hard disk) - then the
Explore again.

And finally, Start - Run - Regedit

Open the left pane by clicking + boxes to
HKEY CLASSES ROOT\Drive\shell

In the right pane against (Default) should be the actual four letter word none
If not "none", right click on "default" in the right pane. Select "modify" and in "Value data" enter none
