The designing of the latest version of Honda Dio 110 is the one area that has gone through the most rigorous overhauling processes. Built on an Underbone type frame, this scooter has overall dimensions of 1788mm x 707mm x 1130mm offering a large 1238mm wheelbase. While the increased length of wheelbase accounts for more room for the riders, the wide ground clearance of 160mm ensures that the bumps in the roads do not affect an otherwise smooth and comfortable ride. Talking of comforts, a lot of attention has been paid by the designers of Dio to make it as comfortable for the riders as possible. A wider and well-cushioned seat with proper body-support, a roomier foot-board to accommodate even tall drivers conveniently, practically-designed grab-rails running around the rear-end of the seat and a set of longer and wider foot-pegs for better foot-support – every tiny detail that plays a part in comfort, has been modified and carefully worked-upon in the latest Dio.
Besides comfort, convenience is the field in which Honda Dio 110 performs very well. An 18 litre worth of storage area placed under the floorboard and an optional luggage box that can be installed under the handlebars, in the front, supply ample room for storing your regular shopping, bags and helmet, thereby leaving you free from carrying any of that luggage. The keyhole to the under-seat storage has also been shifted to the side panel, which happens to be a more practical position. Up front, the instrument console mounted on the handlebars gets a very simple, neat and uncluttered design. A round speedometer-cum-odometer colored in black is complemented with a rounded fuel-gauge in white, which gives a very clear display but does not add to the style statement.
Honda Dio 110 Appearance
Honda Dio 110 is symbolic of the lively youth. Its dynamic multi-toned physique, coupled with the sharp endings of every feature clearly states that it is meant for youngsters. And the recent revamp that has been worked upon this scooter, only tends to intensify that notion. The front apron, shaped in an aerodynamic wedge-like form, now comes mounted with an expansive unit of blinkers and headlamp whose sharp design serves to accentuate the overall vibrant feel of the front fascia. Plus, the blank front of the handlebar also gets some bold lines cut across it, clearly making it a part of the overall dynamic theme. The rear view mirrors, now have a polygonal shape which also complies with the theme.
Moving towards the side of Honda Dio 110, we see some very distinctly noticeable changes here. A layered frame is the first detail that pops in front of the eyes. Apart one of the colors that belongs to the range of shades that are available in this ride, silver outlines the foot-board, and black joins in on the side panels and also peeps out from under the side body. Although, this incorporation of black adds a sporty feel to Dio and breaks the monotony of a single tone, it might have been overdone a bit. Besides the color-scheme, the very cut of the side body gives the scooter a slimmer and longer look which makes it look very sprint-y. And to reflect that sprint and lightness of vision in the feel as well, the structure of Honda Dio 110 has been cast out of plastic rather than metal. But, that cuts down on the durability of the body, at the same that it makes the scooter light. Finally, the rear end gets a trendy taillight which is pretty much all about the rear.
Colors of Honda Dio 110 Engine & Performance
The latest version of Honda Dio 110 carries the same 109cc engine of Honda that drives the Honda Activa. Blessed with a light and peppy nature, this engine provides a very good pickup and acceleration, and can take the scooter to a top speed of 97kmph. Coming to the suspension system. Honda Dio 110 still houses the same Spring-loaded Hydraulic suspension mechanism for both its front and rear ends, and the absence of telescopic forks at the front wheel come as a huge disappointment for the buyers. On the up side, Honda have introduced two new features in the machinery under the hood that takes the performance levels one notch higher. One is the zero-maintenance battery and the other is the viscous paper air filter that needs replacement only after the scooter has covered a run of 15,000km.
Honda Dio 110 Mileage
The new and improved set of mechanicals put to work in the latest version of Dio have been claimed to enhance the fuel-economy of the ride straight away by 15%. And that brings the mileage of Dio, as per the ARAI ratings, to an excellent 66.7kmpl, while in practice the average is nowhere below 50-55kmpl.
