Suicide bomb explosion near church in Wattala

A suicide bomber has exploded a bomb at a checkpoint opposite St. Anne’s Church at Hekitta Road in Wattala. The explosion has killed five Civil Defence Force personnel, says Army spokesman Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara.

LTTE terrorists have carried out a bomb explosion in Wattala, Hekitta area short while ago. According to the available information, the explosion has taken place close to St Ann's church .

Five die in Wattala suicide blast


Five persons died when a suspected LTTE suicide bomber blew himself up after forcing himself into a Civil Defence Force checkpoint in Wattala a short while ago, State media reported. At least eleven people have been admitted to Ragama hospital, and three have been admitted to Colombo following the blast, said hospital authorities.
