Settled in Aussie for good
I did the following analysis to lead a basic quality life in Sri Lanka.

Car lease for a Rs. 1.5M Maruti = Rs. 30,000

Mortgage for a Rs. 3M one story, 2 bedroom house = Rs. 20,000
(this is to build your own nest but you have the option of renting for life or sharing with your siblings and in-laws in a family home)
(A perch itself is more than 2 lakhs in the 20 km radius from Colombo)

Petrol cost to travel to work in Colombo in the privacy & comfort of your own car = Rs. 20,000
(you have the alternative of traveling like a bat in a packed bus or sit in a office van like when you used to be a kid)

Income tax can be anywhere above 10%

Cost of food, water bills, electricity bills etc, exam fees, subscription fees, your children's school fees if you have any children, cost to have a good time at Pizza Hut or go to movies, were not considered as they are subjective)
(Rs. 45 for a loaf of bread now, compared to the Rs. 3, when we were kids back in 1994)

Car insurance, health insurance not considered
(if you think you do not have to have health insurance, you too might as well have to beg the society for surgery (like those thousands of sick people we see on the road and in news papers), as you never know when you will also face a major illness like cancer, kidney failure etc.,).

Provided you too prefer a quality life, do you agree with these numbers?

If you do not agree, can you please mention which part of my analysis is wrong?
