1)The country should start thinking in terms of divide and rule policy for traffic. Merging Traffic is not the best policy. Look at Maradana junction traffic has increased and people spend a lot of money moving around. When it was divided it was easy to travel.
2) Switch off Traffic lights in Dali Road, Union Place, Lipton Circus, Kumar Rattam Road, Town Hall, Gangarama,etc. Signal only working if you have equivalent traffic on all sides of the roads at all time and the size of traffic is the same.
3) Different companies should have different work time. Schools should open at 7:30. Bakery and Restaurants at 6:30, Banks and insurance at 8:00,Whole sale trade at 8:30, Retail trade at 9:30, Pettah Market at 10:00,Hospitals at 10:00, Shopping Malls at 11:00, Utility (CEB, Telecom, etc) at 10:30. This will decrease traffic congestion. When people do not enter and exit at same time traffic will decrease.
4) Synchronized signal for green at 50kmph . If you get one signal green to enter Colombo at morning time then you should get next signal green too. Same should apply exiting Colombo at night time.
5) Signal should be direct green after red. Only when stopping it should go yellow and red.
