I admit that after two somewhat disappointing seasons, I was skeptical that the show could ever return to the glory days of season four. While it may be premature to say this season will be great based on the first episode alone, I think we can expect something different than the stale formula of the last season. If you saw the season six finale then you know that Dexter’s (Michael C. Hall) sister Debra (Jennifer Carpenter) walked in on him at the very moment he killed that season’s main villain. The episode was different from most Dexter season finales, as it was a definite cliffhanger, while most of the previous seasons have ended with a sense of closure and an end to their story arcs.
