Suspected Tamil Tiger airplanes have bombed Colombo again. Bombs fell on the Inland Revenue Department building causing a fire a while ago. The Department is situated next to Air Force Headquarters on Malay Street in Pettah.
One of the two planes have been downed near Katunayake. Body of a pilot recovered. The planes took-off from Puthukudirippu at 8.30pm and was immediately detected by the SLA. They entered Colombo around 9.30pm and missed their target and bombed IRD instead. It was on their way back that the F7 Jets intercepted one. Army was waiting for the other to land but couldn't engage because of civilian settlements.

Regarding the Zlin 143 attack, there is no confirmation of a pilot captured alive. Sources say the first plane downed on the IRD building following anti-aircraft gunfire. over 40 persons, majority civilians were injured in the downing of the plane. One person later died. The other plane went down at Anamaduwa following F7 attack. Posted by DW at
Dil said...Idont thhink the one in IR is a crash. the damage is minimal and fire should prevail had it been one of takarans.
I think one fell in katunayaka and other in Anamaduwa. But what is the blast hear over the sea in Udappu as reported by lankadeepa?

UNP have more businessmen..So RW may have asked VP as a last wish to help his businessmen. That is why IR building.

At least two unidentified aircrafts have entered the skies over Colombo and the city’s air defence system has been activated. More information is not available as of this moment.
Update: One of the aircraft involved in the attack was shot down a short while ago near the Air Force Base in Katunayake. A body which is suspected to be of the pilot has been recovered.
Meanwhile a building of the Inland Revenue department in Colombo fort has been damaged. Around 25 people injured in the incident were admitted to hospital.
Update 2: Both aircraft has been shot down. Meanwhile the aircraft shot down near Katunayake has crashed inside the HSZ. It appears that the plane carried a large amount of explosives. Even the pilot himself seems to have carried several hand grenades.
