Every 10 hours SLT brings down the PPP to as they say "renew the IP". But this is very annoying because I don't see the point why they do it every 10 hours!!! why can't it be every 12? its is much more predictable.... and even if a guy connects 10 mins before the global renewal time his connection is gonna get interrupted in 10 mins! Its not 10 hours from the time connected

Actually it *is* 10 hours from whenever you connect, because thats how long the DHCP lease is valid, and you obtain the lease when you connect. There's no inherent mechanism in DHCP to maintain the leases chronologically, because it's impractical. Just imagine the load that would have to be borne by the network if every 10 hours every single computer connected to it had to renew their DHCP lease at the same time. It's a logistical fail. Having said that, I haven't noticed any adverse effects from it, uTorrent copes with it fine. And if you do have a long download, simply cycle your connection prior to beginning the download, or use a download manager like DAP or GetRight.
