There are countries where you cannot have vegetable foods in the cold season of the year, so people have to depend on hunting. That's how they have a God of Hunting.
The Goddess is of fertility, who represents the animals reproduces, so that people could hunt and animals wouldn't extinct. Those people were wise than us, they didn't just hunt animals to extinct.
Now the case is different, that people keep livestock in farms. Then it is not hunting. now that is a problem.
In Pagan religions it does not say that animals were "created" by God/dess, but the fertility of animals, so that they would reproduce. So, it is a different story.
Islam, Christianity and Judaism are Abrahmic religions where they teach that the God created animals for humans food. But Pagan religions are different! where we believe that animals are evolved with us and hunting is a part of nature which derived the evolution.
When we hunt animals from the forest, we are doing a favor to the nature by eliminating weeklings from the gene-pool, so that better genes moves forward. That is good for the evolution of species... Sadly, this does not apply for farmed animals where natural selection cannot be applied!
