Simple answer is... President gave Karuna a MPship because he wanted to & it suited his interests..

President wont give SB his civil rights because he doesn't want to & it doesn't suite his best interests..

It simple as that... & thats what Executive President powers could do... your UNP JR pappa started the mess by bringing the executive powers & now u r reaping its rewards...so stop complaining..

Yes. But will it be with the best interests of the country, finishing Prabhakaran off? My enemy's enemy is my friend. Warfare needs tactics off the battle field too. Karuna's information was very helpful in capturing East, because he virtually stopped tamil youth from east joining LTTE. So you want him in jail while the main culprit is roaming free. And Somawansa has also killed thousands. He also should be punished then. Some times not punishing them are with the best interest of the nation.

Never. Mahinda was employed as as assitant librarian while my father was studying at SJP faculty in 1969-72 time. He was a hard SLFP even by then. SB was one of my father's students, was the president of the JVP students wing during 1974-75 era. They were NEVER friends. They were brought together by CBK to fight against UNP. I can quite confidently say they were bitter opponets.
