    Micromax IIFA Awards 2010 announces the Technical Award winners

    Mumbai, May 10, 2010: The International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) declared today the winners of the technical award categories for IIFA AWARDS 2010. It was indeed ‘Aal izz Well’ for 3 Idiots who emerged front runners for the honours, winning 8 of the categories of the technical awards. Sujoy Ghosh's, Aladin and the Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone starrer, Love Aaj Kal also garnered 2 awards each. The awards will be presented to the winners at the 11th IIFA Awards that will be held on June 5th in Colombo, Sri Lanka, this year.

    3 Idiots clearly managed to uphold its position with Abhijat Joshi, Rajkumar Hirani & Vidhu Vinod Chopra taking the award for the Best Screenplay, C.K. Muraleedharan ISC for Best Cinematography, followed by Rajukumar Hirani and Abhijat Joshi for Best Dialogue, Sanjay Wandrekar, Atul Raninga & Shantanu Moitra for Best Background Score and Rajkumar Hirani for Best Editing. To add to the feathers in its cap, the movie won Best Sound Recording - Bishwadeep Chatterjee & Nihal Ranjan Samal, Best Song Recording - Bishwadeep Chatterjee & Sachi K Sanghvi and the Best Sound Re-recording by Anup Dev.

    The popular dance moves from Love Aaj Kal won Bosco Caesar the Best Choreography Award, while the Best Costume Designing went to Anahita Shroff & Dolly Ahluwalia, for the same movie. Sabu Cyril got the Best Art Direction and Charles Darby (Eyecube Labs) won Best Special Effects (Visual) for Aladin . Sham Kaushal was favoured with the Best Action Award for Kaminey and undoubtedly deserving was the Best Makeup Award to international make-up artists, Christien Tinsley & Dominie Till for Paa.

    Colombo, April 20, 2010: After a magical decade with celebrations across the world, the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) will celebrate the IIFA Weekend and IIFA Awards in the exotic Emerald Island of Sri Lanka, this year. The 11th edition of IIFA will be held at the country's capital, Colombo, from June 3rd - 5th, 2010.

    As always, the IIFA Weekend, Sri Lanka will be a culmination of mega events that brings Indian cinema to the world. The IIFA Weekend includes the high-profile FICCI IIFA Global Business Forum, the IIFA Foundation Fashion Extravaganza, the IIFA Foundation Celebrity Cricket Match, World premieres of Indian films, IIFA Film Workshop and the climax of the Weekend, the spectacular IIFA Awards.     Dutta, Deshmukh and Irani to host IIFA 2010 Sri Lanka


    Mumbai: The International Indian Film Awards (IIFA) 2010 to be held in Sri Lanka in June, during three days of glamour and glitz will be hosted by Lara Dutta and Boman Irani who will be the hosts for the fourth time whilst Riteish Deshmukh will be joining them on stage for the third year.

    Speaking at the Media Conference in Mumbai, India, Lara Dutta said she was proud to be selected to host this mega event which is watched and enjoyed by millions of fans across the globe. Along with Irani and Deshmukh, they will be taking center stage at one of Colombo's most anticipated events in June 2010.

    IIFA weekend 2010 is supported by Sri Lanka Tourism with a mission to inspire, build and deliver tourism as a key driver of the island's economic growth.

    Luxury train service from Airport to Colombo for IIFA guests

    A special super luxury and air condition train service will be launched between the Secretariat halt opposite Colombo Hilton and Bandaranaike International Airport for foreign visitors including film personalities coming to Sri Lanka to participate in the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards 2010.

    Sri Lanka Railways spokesman told the Daily News that Sri Lanka will witness a large crowd with over 600 Indian film personalities gracing the IIFA awards ceremony to be held from June 3 to 5.

    The service will be launched on the directives of Transport Minister Kumara Welgama on a special request by President Mahinda Rajapaksa. It will be supervised by Railways Chairman P.P. Wijesekara.

    Work on modernizing the Secretariat halt opposite the Colombo Hilton has already been initiated.

    The Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) Ltd has allocated funds for this. The spokesman said this station will be converted into modern hut with modern facilities.
