Minister Johnston Fernando said today that import tax on a kilo of big onions and potatoes will be increased by Rs.25 and Rs.20 respectively with effect from midnight today.

Well I saw some sirasa news about this issue..it seems those local farmers are *ucked up & ask for a import tax!

What Govt is doing is something like changing the pillow for the headache. just put plasters without going to the root of the problem.

when farmers shout implement new taxes and when there's a scarcity remove the taxes.

Government should support local farmers from seed to harvest then they can sell with a good profit & at lower price than the imported onions, potatoes!
