Importance of Bimsaviya data
Under the Bimsaviya project, the GIS location data has been collected for many addresses. I think, no one has identified the importance and potential benefits, which could be taken from this data.
If this data is shared with other departments, the emergency ambulance service just have to get the patients address. Finding the patients home, will be hassle free with Google maps or an equivalent. Similar situation for Sri Lanka telecom or electricity board service providers. They could locate any household, just with the address.
If we could share these data with emergency ambulance services and disease surveillance, it will save many lives.
By the way, this facility is available even for general public, in some countries.

In some countries, when you type the address of the place you want to go, the Google maps will take you exactly to the place you want to go. At least sharing the data with government institutions and projects, will save many lives

What we have seen in this country, is a problem with data ownership. Some people are not willing to share the data. But, people's money have been spent on collecting those data. So, we should give optimum benefit for people with these data
