Has anyone applied for an Indian visa-on-arrival online? I know you had to enter the details and bring the documents to the visa office, but have you tried to get a visa-on-arrival by paying the fee yourself?
When this introduced I tried it for my cousin. It worked but you cannot do it more than twice in a calendar year. All you have to do is fill online form at least 4 working days before you departure date. Then they will send you a email with the visa. Print it and present it to the airline and immigration office at point of entry. No paper visa will stick on your passport. Only electronic visa, just like ETA in Sri Lanka. Its actually not on arrival because you cannot just hop in to a plane and visit. At least you have to wait 4-5 days to process. Only advantage is you don't need to visit any office.

That's the funny part. Its not cheap, you have to pay $60 for this. And beware there are limited point of entry in this visa. So before you get visa check with it. If you landing in Chennai or Mumbai its fine.
I checked it with the website after reading this thread, Now site says only $25, but that time I'm pretty sure it was $60. Anyway you can get all the details from here. https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/visa/tvoa.html
