Machan so Core 2 Duo is a brand name of a Dual Core Processor is it???
And please tell more about Centrino Duo...
So far 3 dual core processors from Intel for the desktop:
1. Pentium D (and some Pentium EE's, based on )
2. Core 2 Duo (Core Micro-architecture; Conroe and Allendale codenames; newer Penryns are yet to come to SL I think)
3. Pentium DualCore (which is a 1MB Allendale; but Core Micro-architecture nevertheless)

Centrino Duo is the successor to Merom (Core 2 Duo: mobile) with higher FSB (800 vs 667) and with ability to overclock itself automatically up to 10 or 20% (can't remember the exact value) when the work load is high.

Again it's not true AFAIK.hehee
its the same Intel mobile CPU which u'll find in those non-Centrino Lappies,
Intel mobile CPU+ Intel Wireless N/W adaptor + Intel Chipset(N/B +S/B) = Centrino platform
if one of the above components is missing then it is a non-Centrino :)

    You seem confused :P

It is the same Merom core; but they made a new version especially for the Santa Rosa platform.

Edit: damn this naming is confusing...I'm confused too. Let's call them by model name

There is a Centrino Duo in the Napa platform too. So, yes it is not the CPU :(

    I give up!

You people are better off buying a VIA C7 processor!
