iPad mini 5th gen (2019) bought from Dubai airport back in the day when I was in transit, daily used for music and other stuff when I was in ලකේ පංකාවේ, had a battery issue due to heavy use and non stable electricity in ලකේ පංකාව. As very 1st thing I replaced my battery and installed a new waterproofing gasket seal when I moved here. Installed original factory made apple battery (bit of a cost but worth it)

In my opinion size mostly depends with the way you are willing/planning to use the device.
I could have easily go for a bigger screened iPad air or iPad pro model, but my intention was to day to day use and even carry the iPad where ever I go (example for shopping, coffee shops, even for work.) So the mini model came in handy for me.
