He is a true hero because
1 he did what he had to do to save his camp knowing fully that he is not gonna return
2 he didn't kill civilians in doing so
3 he was not brainwashed to suicide like ltte suicide bombers.

The best possible way to honour our heros such as Col Laffeer and Hasalaka Gamini is to eradicate racism and enthic bias in our country and make sure past mistakes are never repeated. They laid down their lives for a united Sri Lanka for all races and communities to live as one. Lets in our small way try our best to make sure we achieve what they laid their lives for. Thats the least we can do!
