    Am running ubuntu 10.4 on a pentium e5300 cpu.
    recently I installed the sensors applet.

    It gives approximately

    Core0 = 37 C
    Core1 = 33 C
    fan2 = 2636 RPM
    temp1 = 56 C
    temp2 = 88 C
    temp3 = 127 C

    :shocked: is my comp boiling ?

    I checked the bios hardware monitor on boot.
    it gave:
    cpu temp 84 C
    mb temp 27 C

    how come core0 and core1 are ok and temp2 (cpu?) is too high? Anyway bios h/w monitor also gives high reading!
    Are readings from sensors applet accurate? temp3 ???? :growl:

    if I run sensors in a terminal I get the following:

    coretemp-isa-0000
    Adapter: ISA adapter
    Core 0: +38.0°C (high = +76.0°C, crit = +100.0°C)

    coretemp-isa-0001
    Adapter: ISA adapter
    Core 1: +34.0°C (high = +76.0°C, crit = +100.0°C)

    w83627dhg-isa-0290
    Adapter: ISA adapter
    Vcore: +1.10 V (min = +0.00 V, max = +1.74 V)
    in1: +1.64 V (min = +1.37 V, max = +1.95 V)
    AVCC: +3.28 V (min = +2.98 V, max = +3.63 V)
    VCC: +3.28 V (min = +2.98 V, max = +3.63 V)
    in4: +1.87 V (min = +1.63 V, max = +1.74 V) ALARM
    in5: +1.26 V (min = +1.06 V, max = +0.71 V) ALARM
    in6: +0.10 V (min = +1.95 V, max = +1.08 V) ALARM
    3VSB: +3.28 V (min = +2.98 V, max = +3.63 V)
    Vbat: +3.22 V (min = +2.70 V, max = +3.30 V)
    fan1: 0 RPM (min = 1318 RPM, div = 128) ALARM
    fan2: 2678 RPM (min = 922 RPM, div = 8)
    fan3: 0 RPM (min = 1054 RPM, div = 128) ALARM
    fan4: 0 RPM (min = 10546 RPM, div = 128) ALARM
    fan5: 0 RPM (min = 10546 RPM, div = 128) ALARM
    temp1: +56.0°C (high = +79.0°C, hyst = -91.0°C) ALARM sensor = diode
    temp2: +88.0°C (high = +80.0°C, hyst = +75.0°C) ALARM sensor = diode
    temp3: +127.0°C (high = +80.0°C, hyst = +75.0°C) ALARM sensor = thermistor
    cpu0_vid: +2.050 V

    Assume as step 1, I may need to re-do the thermal compound on the cpu - fan heat sink.

    Any other ideas please ?

    thanks!

    thanks for responding guys.

    Well the sensors output temp3 gives just that 127 :baffled:
    Am not sure what temp3 indicates.
    Think temp1 is MB and temp2 is CPU ?

    Rechecked bios on re-boot:
    CPU 84
    MB 30
    There are no other temp readings.
    This is a Intel DG31PR board.

    Anyway is the bios reported CPU 84 value too high or can manage ?

    Someone mentioned that I may need a bios update and intel site had some info about bios issue in reporting temp. :baffled: Didn't find a reference to this yet.

    Anyone using a Intel DG31PR mobo heard of such an issue?
