Sri Lanka's Muslims split over ideological differences

It's highly likely. As far as I know, there are some differences between Sri Lankan Muslims and some Muslim groups who have their origins in India-I think they are called Memans. There are many fundamentalist groups in the world and I have heard of at least one group which gives martial arts training to young Muslim men in the Kandy region-this is first hand information from a Muslim friend of mine who later migrated. And there are many mosques funded by Soudi government-surely, they cannot be so different from the various Christian groups who want to spread their own version all over the world.

This is a reason of concern for all of us. Personally I don't want to step in the Arab world even for a second. They are highly intolerant to other religions. Our Muslims can wear their purda, use loud speakers and call for prayers five times a day, have all meat products halal. But what happens if a non-Muslim girl doesn't wear a purda in a predominantly Muslim country? Would they allow temples to be built there? Some big mosques in Kandy are built in the lands belonging to Dalada Maligawa.

So, if these fundamentalists invade us, it will be a disaster. They will destroy the other religions, including other Islam schools. I wonder if the government is aware of these issues.
