I already informed AIRTEL regards to this matter and they contacted me. I will keep the threat updated regards to the matter. Airtel has problems with many sites. I thought they are blocked until i found the problem also applies to wikipedia. There is no reason to block a encyclopedia unless. I am sure it's not because wikipedia contains information about human reproductive system and birth control methods.

Maybe Airtel wants the Sri Lankans to be stupid by denying them access to global knowledge on Wikipedia.

Another matter: If i was Dialog (or mobitel, or SLTBB or Etiselat) Promo team, my next ad campaign would be:

Gain access to a world of knowledge..
We do not block Wikipedia.. Do Dialog Broadband!!!!

    hahaha

    Not only Airtel Dialog too

Dialog too has been blocking both twitter and Wiki. It took more than a week for them just to accept that there is a routing problem.

    Check these links
    https://www.facebook.com/topic.php?uid=55826981202&topic=17788
    https://twitter.com/#!/search/dialoglk

And this is still not fixed.

    Please check this also. http://www.trc.gov.lk/broadband/225...play-the-localness-to-subscribers-by-act.html

As per the guidelines, it is mandatory to inform the subscribers in an event of a submarine cable failure or in the event of maintenance work in the submarine cable systems if the event has a direct impact on the experience of the Internet users. According to the NBCC’s observations the broadband operators are not keen to communicate such events to the subscribers in an effective manner.

Apart from failures in the international links, which is beyond the control of the local operator, some operators pay scant respect to their customers and frequently carrying out maintenance work in networks affecting the service without prior notice to their valued customers. Many instances were found in the past where some operators have even changed the network settings without informing the subscribers which are vital for the operations at the subscriber’s end. As a result of thoughtless action on the part of some broadband operators, the subscribers are facing many difficulties.

I think we should complain TRC.
