There are a few companies in sri lanka which hire php engineers. But overall i think most of php engineers in sri lanka are freelancers. Sorry to disappoint you, but, with 6 months of experience it is highly unlikely you ll get a good salary in another company. Better stay there for at least another 6 months and get more experience and apply for another company. Cant promise the future for php guys, try to learn few more languages like ruby..etc

PHP is good/best but in Sri Lanka only small companies use it for making web sites. Those projects are small and small budget. So they don't offer big salaries.

Try to get into company like Pyxle. They kind of good in that http://www.pyxle.net/

there is a trend in developing app with java scripts bro. Learn some JS while doing PHP. Better to stay with PHP. Learn some frameworks (Zend, Codeignatior )

Try to have 1 year experience at this place then try another place :)
there are companies like CMS (previously E-Solutions) pay good salaries for php developers :)

Actually this software engineer designation is depending on the companies, In some companies its software engineer, software developer, solution developer likewise

better to stay there for another few months and gain more experience. you can't request better salary for just 6 month experience. Better to do some freelancing projects while working on your company.

I personally know people who get paid a LOT just doing php. .net would be a good pick for you. Learn things like wpf, ado, asp, linq etc.. first and do simple projects. Get the hang of SE concepts. That's what matters the most than languages.

Don't stick into single technology. As your company use PHP, you can do freelancing on ASP.NET and J2EE web. Also try to learn them. Then you'll have a better CV and can apply for any web developer position. But you'll have to complete several freelancing projects before apply for .NET of Java web developer. Also try to understand basics instead of just copy paste codes from net.

If you want to do PHP in future, gain more experience and apply for company like OrangeHRM. They offer a better salary than other small companies which use PHP.
