Mr jayawardhana had both negative and positive qualities..

The SLFP govt has brought the sri lankan social- economical situation to its worst levels during the late 70s. Like in EX-soviet block countries, the goverment officials and their families were involved in state corruption during that period while the common people had to find a peice of bread or packet of Milk powder only through the so-called "PAN POLIM"....

So, JR has got unprecendented victory on 1977 election. Then to launch the economy in relation with World economic competitions he has launched the OPEN ECONoMY. it has opend the investments . But, the problem was else....IT WAS THE RISING OF TAMIL EELAMIST MILITANCY....

During the late 70s the jaffna came under the partial control of eelamist populist and student wings. Anyway the first sign of that insurgency has ignited during the sirima times.(soon after the 1971 jvp rebellion , including the mayor Doreappa murder etc...). But JR has sent an able army officer to crush them. The forward eelam military leadership was beheaded. . I canT remember the name of that army officer, but remind the News about the terrorist bodies found under a certain jaffna bridge;) .. Even the Prbakarana was forced to flee tamilnadu fearing his miserable life...

and JR , with mr lalith and Mr gamini has launched the most advanced development project in srilanka.. the MAHAWELI DEVELOPMENT PROJECT
...

with that

1- SL is able to get counrtywide electricity
2- started the strategical colonies like Welioya , Maduru oya etc..
3- Rehabiliated the entire rajarata making an agarian state....

I will write you some more later...
also some negative things abt him

But dont judge him as a national enemy.. Without him , we Sri lanka would have been an another Ethiopia, according to some political analytes...

once, I ve know personally Ravi jayawardhana.. He was a good "environmentalist", and good soldier, before all he was real gentleman, unlike nowdays most " desapaluwan ge putthu"..

SO, dont fooled by idiotic mindsets, Look the real facts..

Amazing...
Nice to meet a gentlemen once in a while. :D I admire your sensibility.

Mahinda is nowhere compared to him
with his management ability.
Only one left his government in 17 years,
how many left Mahinda so far.
:)

Extremely narrow minded thinking!

You are comparing a 80's govt. with 2009  those days open economy haven't had much impact on people's lives or should I say on politician's life, as compared to now loyalty can be easily dealt with money.. easier than those days!

And the laughable thing is you say many people left Mahinda.. then how come he has the biggest cabinet of all time, and this was same for every other president after JR too :lol:

JR's rule was different because it marks and end of milestone for Sri Lanka, if we could take a look at Sri Lanka's corruption rates. I'm sure the graph runs high after JR under every president since then!

J.R. Jayewardene, who was the eldest in a family of 11 children,
Just imagine how many relatives can be there.
    http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~lkawgw/gen3002.htm

JR had no relatives (other than Ranil)
in parliament or in other important or unimportant places.
Ranil was not given anything higher than a ministerial position.

That is call the great leader ship

Not Like this So Call Mahinda Mama

    forgot to add few things

A- JR govt is first to launch the low country tea industry (pahatha rata te' karmanthaya). Thus the

    1) -it diminished The Thondamans tamil influence which based upon the strikes and harthals organised by the upcountry racist tamils who compromised the upcountry tea production.

    2) Opend the new income to low country agricultural comunity and middle class

B- Gave the birth to best counter insurgency unit of the SL history. The STF  and has given the protection to entire digamdulla and vavunia border villages..

C-- gave the brith to special forces regiment in SLA (with lalith)

D- Developed countries like japan, USA, GB and malasiya had a great respect to JR.. Our foreign relations became wider and so the investments (But the problem was the F**ING indians who continually abated the Eelamist terrorists by Arms, refuge and training in Tamilnadu)

    :)

The negativity one genarates harms himself first. You may think that they harm me.. They send checks with Hatred, but I don't encash them.. Their hatred would remain in their accounts...

    From http://www.dhamma.org/en/art.shtml
How do we start generating negativity?By investigation, it becomes clear. We become unhappy when we find someone behaving in a way that we don't like, or when we find something happening which we don't like. Unwanted things happen and we create tension within. Wanted things do not happen, some obstacle comes in the way, and again we create tension within; we start tying knots within. And throughout life, unwanted things keep on happening, wanted things may or may not happen, and this process of reaction, of tying knots—Gordian knots—makes the entire mental and physical structure so tense, so full of negativity, that life becomes miserable.
Now, one way to solve this problem is to arrange that nothing unwanted happens in life, that everything keeps on happening exactly as we desire. Either we must develop the power, or somebody else who will come to our aid must have the power, to see that unwanted things do not happen and that everything we want happens. But this is impossible. There is no one in the world whose desires are always fulfilled, in whose life everything happens according to his or her wishes, without anything unwanted happening. Things constantly occur that are contrary to our desires and wishes. So the question arises: how can we stop reacting blindly when confronted with things that we don't like? How can we stop creating tension and remain peaceful and harmonious?

The difficulty is that we are not aware when negativity starts. It begins deep in the unconscious mind, and by the time it reaches the conscious level it has gained so much strength that it overwhelms us, and we cannot observe it.
Now, with training, we can see the other side of the coin. We can be aware of our breathing and also of what is happening inside. Whatever it is, breath or sensation, we learn just to observe it without losing our mental balance. We stop reacting and multiplying our misery. Instead, we allow the defilements to manifest and pass away.
The more one practices this technique, the more quickly negativities will dissolve. Gradually the mind becomes free of defilements, becomes pure. A pure mind is always full of equanimity in the face of any situation.

    ;)
