President Mahinda Rajapaksa last evening appointed Chief of Defence (CDS) Staff and former Sri Lanka Army Commander General Sarath Fonseka as the Secretary to the Ministry of Sports, in addition to his current duties as CDS.



However, while attempting to contact General Fonseka, Adaderana understands that he was not willing to comment on his new appointment. Sources close to the General said that he did not wish to make an issue over the extra appointment and that he also did not want to cause any embarrassment to the government or the President over this.
