If you are more into Machine Learning, Statistics Python would be awesome and has a easy learning curve.

If you are more like into Web PHP would be a good start. Java on other hand Spring Boot, related micro services built these days. Checkout Zuul, Zookeper & etc. you get the picture.

There something called JavaScript which is kind of a Jack of All trades. You can do ML, Web, Micro Services or any fucking things. you name it.
