People on either side of the Kandy Road gave a tremendous welcome to the Jayodaye Ranagosha motorcade after it left the Vidyalankara Pirivena, Peliyagoda for Kandy on Saturday 30th August.
The overwhelming pubic reception was a response to the appeal by the Manel Mal Movement which organized the motorcade to honour war heroes.
The motorcade was greeted at the YMBA, Kiribathgoda, Kadawatha Bo-Tree, Yakkala and Nittambuwa Junctions, Warakapola, Kegalle and Kadugannawa towns and Getambe Bo-Tree before the participants reached the Rajopawanaramaya, Dalada Maligawa and the Keppettipola Monument at Kandy. At all these places people made offerings and pirith was chanted. Dignitaries of different religious organizations were also present.
