Chennai: Sri Lanka’s main Opposition leader Ranil Wickramasinghe today sought an explanation from Colombo on former army chief Gen Sarath Fonseka’s allegation that some surrendering LTTE leaders were killed on the orders of the government.

“Government must say... we have already asked the government to tell us the background of this,” Wickramasinghe, who held talks with External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna in Delhi, told reporters here enroute to Colombo on winding up his three-day visit to India.

Replying to a question on the charge by opposition Presidential election candidate Fonseka, which he has later subsequently denied, the United National Party (UNP) leader said the Sri Lankan Government should explain in the next Parliament session.

“We have heard that they had a discussion. The government has not yet explained. They should explain in the next Parliament session. They can’t shift the blame,” he said. – (The Hindu/PTI)
