Under an emergency ministerial directive signed late last night by Health Minister Brad Hazzard, people who leave their home without “reasonable excuse” could be fined up to $11,000 and face six months in jail.
Examples of a “reasonable excuse” include “obtaining food or other goods and services, travelling for the purposes of work or education if the person cannot do it at home, exercise or medical or caring reasons”.
