My Dear Elakiri Members

First and Foremost let me thank for the member who started this discussion. I Hope you all will listen to my side of the story and understand.

I studied at an International School, Both O/L and A/L and I did have a liking to enter Local University as well, so I spoke to the University Grants Commission and asked them if I can enter a University here and they said that I can't since they expect GCE O/L and A/L and it is highly competitive to enter.

I had no liking to go abroad since I did not like the atitude of some of the foreign University representetives and above all I like this Country and the culture a lot

Currently I am studing for my Degree in Computing at APIIT, if not for places like APIIT, ACBT etc youngsters like us would have been just no where, and I do understand the agony that Students who have no access to higher education undergo.

Every child in this country (in this case the world)should have access to higher education, free education is where education is free of charge as well as freely accessible.

If Higher Education in Sri Lanka is only limited for those who get very high results on what ground can we call it freely accessible in turn justify it as Free Education

Therefore please understand the plight of such students, afterall we all are children of Mother Lanka, for those who had the luck and benifit of obtaining free education, please for once think of students like us and give us one chance to stand up and we all can get together and do a yoremans service to the benifit of this Country and Community

Dan balanna middle class eke ewun rata gihin karana degree programs ex: Aeronautical engineering, IT, Mobile application devoloping etc.. ewa ekakwath ma rate naa.. thama parana syllabus thamai uganwanne. anika un rata giyama ai enawa boru.. eka hinda mehe thiyena uni walata ganak deela igena ganna dunnanum hari. ethakota e salli walin Uni diyunu karannath puluwan. A/L hondata passwena ewunta scholarships e uniwalatama dunnama wade goda. danata ma wena eken wenne.. salli thiyena but talented ewunuth pita rata yanawa.. (Brain drain, Amathaka karanna epaa un igena ganneth ma rate Tax payers lage salliwalin kiyala..) Mata num therna widiyata oka thamai karanna oni widiha.. Gavanment university gihin wedi hariyak karanne rate salli saha kaale naasthi karana ekane. Kisi watinaakamak therenne ne nikan dena nisa.

Good idea. But the practicality is the problem. The Private Universities (PUs) will absorb all the staff of the Govenment Universities (GUs), and GUs will be left with no qualified staff. That is unfair to poor students who could not afford PUs.

There are no loan schemes for poor students to enter PUs ATM. Until these facilities are available, PUs are not suitable to be established in SL.

atleast 1%(obviously more than that) of da fee is comming to SL govenment
unlike if the student goes abroad da whole 100% goes to da specific country

and another fact is dat wen SL students go abroad thy most of them dont return back to SL
in this way thy remain in SL so that da resourses remains in SL
