There's so many random mofos from India pakistan bangladesh and sri lanka sending applications in bulk for many of these jobs in other countries around the world.

I don’t think the cover letter is valuable when applying for a tech job. Sometimes recruiters get 100s of applications for a single vacancy. I am pretty sure they don’t read any of them, nor do they have time to read any. They usually filter by keywords related to the job and shortlist a few.

I played a tech lead role in a few companies and had to participate in the recruitment process most of the time. I never bothered to read cover letters; I scanned the skills and chose a few for the next step.
