I'd like to share my journey with you all. I'm a work-from-home person, and I have been dealing with depression, anxiety, and ADHD. I was on medication for these conditions. Politically, I lean towards the right and am a conservative. I also follow the Tate brothers and various other right-wing personalities in U.S. politics (Please, no hate, we're all entitled to our own thoughts and opinions.)

I was deeply impactd by the fat-shaming done by my best friend (whose an athletic individual), and the Tate brothers; their derogatory comments felt personally targeted towards me tbh. The final straw was when Tristin voiced his lack of sympathy for people like me, who he perceived as choosing to remain fat and "losers" because we don't work out.

About a month and half ago (when I weighed 107 Kg), I decided to make a change. I stopped taking my meds and initiated a variation of lateral jumps as a physical activity, but I could only last for 3 minutes. My anxiety had always kept me from going to a public gym, so I was confined to my room for workouts. I was on the brink of giving up, when a clip from Jwaller came up on my Twitter/YouTube shorts. In it, he advised, "No matter how you feel, go to the gym and do something." Andrew always says similar stuff, that as a man, what you feel doesn't matter, as no one really cares. His words, "You gotta do what you gotta do," kept echoing in my mind.

That's when I thought of GPT Plus, the tool I had purchased for work. I explained my situation to it, highlighting my lack of workout equipment. In response, it provided a list of exercises that relied on body weight. Over the subsequent days, I made some progress, gradually extending my jumping workout to a full hour. Unfortunately, this resulted in a few days where I was barely able to walk. I learned my lesson and reduced the duration to 25 minutes. My teenage brother, hearing about my struggle, gave me a rusted dumbbell, a barbell, and some weight plates he had received from a friend.

These days, I devote about 1-2 hours to exercises that I found online. I can't say for sure if I'm performing them correctly, but I sweat like crazy, which feels productive. I also learned the concept of calorie deficit so reduced my meals to 1 spoon of rice and other dishes (we usually have 2 dishes)- it was extremly hard at first... But I drank a lot of water and kept my mouth under control. I only eat a spoon of rice and whatever the dishes that's available, mostly 2 to 3 dishes a day. I also started consuming large amounts of coffee which helped me keep my focus!!!

yesterday, a close friend of mine UberFlashed his digital scale until December 2023. Imagine my surprise when it revealed that my weight had dropped to 91 Kg! A recent visit to the office led to four compliments on my appearance. One colleague even said, "You look nice, great!" It was a moment of crazy joy for me. I even received comments from the ladies about my complexion appearing lighter (I am a dark-skinned individual not sure why that happened).

I no longer take medication and my depressive mindset seems to have disappeared. Also, I took a leaf out of Andrew's book and started drinking coffee (minus sugar), which has significantly improved my focus. This photograph was taken just yesterday. By the way, I'm proud to say that I've overcome my addiction to adult-content. I wish i could hug Tristin for his honest insults on those who consume such material.

Dear ElaKirians, if you're battling obesity (like I still am), when people give you those judgmental looks or outright insult you, let those moments fuel your resolve to work hard. We are the only ones who can uplift ourselves. We're adults now, and the only person who can truly help us is ourselves. Just a note - I'm not living overseas, I'm in LKA.

    Dear Gym nuts,
Help me streamline my workouts and achieve best results if you could.. appreciate it a ton... My equipment's are a dumbbell with around 6kg and a barbell with 8 kg.

I know everyone's weight loss journey is different, for me, your method would be totally unsustainable in the long run (I mean, can you imagine having that bit of food 3 times a day for the rest of your life?) - what worked for me was doing 20:4 - 23:1 fasting with a few 48hr fasts thrown in. I was 95Kg (5'5") back in 2017, brought it down to 65Kg by 2021 and I've maintained a weight of 65-70Kg since.

Most peeps can't even imagine doing 23:1 IF for the rest of the life. You can't fulfill the daily calorie requirement with a single meal. Your problem is your BMR. Since you are having less calories your body adapts to it and maintaining a low BMR. Try to increase it instead of promoting extreme diets

Nothing extreme about it, I've been a volume eater my entire life - for reference, I can easily put away a "full" portion of fried rice in one sitting and have an ice cream afterward too

I'd love to try this but at first i have to get thin first
Intermittent fasting got very popular in Sri Lanka recently. Many people got healthier. Full credit should go to the Rajapaksa family and Ranil. ❤️
    haha

    Eh?

I can understand someone needing to be thin enough to do activities like jumping and running so as to not potentially damage their joints and stuff but why would someone need to get thin enough to fast

No No.. With the ADHD, I have the tendency to pick up new things rather than attending to one thing. so, I am avoiding changing things when what i currently do seem to work.
