mmm i won't say it's impossible because I got a job 5 years back(with SCJP and SCMAD. Now I have a BEng SE degree though :S) but if you have a degree and most importantly if you have a good knowledge on what you are doing you can get a job...
PS. Salaries may be low but my advice is even if you get a low salary go for it. First get the experience then you can aim for higher
