KILINOCHCHI: TROOPS of the 57 Division, crushing Tigers’ military power further towards the A-9 road, captured a 4 km area along the AKKARAYANKULAM – MURIKKANDY road by Sunday (28) afternoon around 3.00 p.m. after intensive fighting.
Clashes commenced around 8.00 a.m. in the morning and continued until the terrorists holding positions along the captured block of the AKKARAYANKULAM – MURIKKANDY road were defeated killing seven LTTE fighting cadres.
One soldier laid his life and three others sustained injuries.
Clearing operations are continuing.
