Just mentioning here if anyone buying a Macbook.

Check 2 things when you buy a brand new macbook.

1. We need to check whether the device is brand new or refurbished
2. We need to see the region of the device

Both of these can be checked by looking at the part number in the box.
In the box its mentioned 3 things:
Model: A2338
Part No: M1ABCZP/A
Serial: XXXXXXXX

We need to check the Part No.

1. Check whether brand new or refurbished:
Look at the Model Number / Part Number (e.g., FQ123LL/A).

• If it starts with M → New retail unit (standard).
• If it starts with F → Refurbished by Apple.
• If it starts with N → Replacement unit (given during service).
• If it starts with P → Personalized (engraved).

Eg:

• MQD32LL/A → New retail MacBook.
• FQD32LL/A → Official Apple refurbished MacBook.
  

2. Check the region:
The last 2–3 letters before “/A” are the region code.
There is a big list.
But I recommend to buy only USA, UK, Aus, Singapore region macbooks. Avoid the Indian and UAE ones as much as possible.

Ade just checked and saw now after seeing your reply. Yes there has been negative reviews recently.
For me my experience is good so far. I am sure I am not getting any special treatment. But this seems bad.
