A 'Sthupa Wandanawa' and 'Sath Budu Pujawa' was held at Kelaniya Raja Maha Viharaya on 7th October 2008. It was started around 6 pm in the evening with the Sath Budu Wandanawa, followed by the Kelaniya Sthupa Wandanawa. Sthupa Wandanawa, conducted by Venerable Ambanpola Gnanawijaya Thero, did consist of detailed history/background of Kelaniya and the details of the three (3) visits by Gautama Samma Sambuddha (our sastrunwahanse) to Sri Lanka. Participants had the rare chance of travelling through the history while chanting poems (kavi).
The event had been successfully organized by the Upastana Sabhawa & Yowun Sabhawa of the Mahamevnawa Amawathura Asapuwa, under the guidance of Venerable Gnanawijaya Thero and the other Theros residing at the Asapuwa.
