Rajapaksa duo team up first time
By Asanka GammanpilaTwenty four teams confirmed their participation for the second leg of the Inter club rugby Sevens to be held today and tomorrow at the CR and FC ground Longden place commencing at 8.30 a.m and one of the attractions will be the participation of the President’s two sons Namal and Yoshitha Rajapaksa for the Navy team which won the Bowl at the first Sevens in Kandy.
Namal is an ex-captain of the Sri Lanka Under-19 team and both high-profile brothers play club rugby for the first time together.
Kandy, champions for the last seven years, won the first leg in Kandy beating CR 40-10 in the final after a lop-sided game and are favorites to win again.
Army, Police and Havelocks who did not field their teams for the first leg will contest the Colombo meet.
The 23 teams will be divided into eight groups while defending champions Kandy are grouped in “A” along with Kurunegala and Eheliyagoda and CR and FC are in group “B” with Petersons and Diyatalawa.

A- Kandy, Kurunegala, Eheliyagoda; B- Navy, Seethawaka, Nalanda; C- CH and FC, Galle, Kannangara; D- Air Force, Jawatte; CH and FC “B” E- Army, Air Force “B”, Panadura; F- Havelocks, Old Zahira, Gampaha, G- Police, Old Wesleyites, Matale; H- CR and FC, Petersons, Diyatalawa.
