You can switch to a standard user account instead of using an admin account.gayannr said:the most security risk dat i face with are Viruses like things.Linux is best for that prob!

The default user in Linux is standard user ne?

I wasn't talking about UAC. You can do your normal work in a standard user account. Then XP is very less vulnerable to malicious software, because they can't do hard to the system (can't touch the registry, can't alter any system file etc. etc.)gayannr said:i didnt get ur point that u related UAC to this.however in OpenSuSe u can set de default user to be ADMIN![]()
Some people told me otherwiseICE said:Linux is also more stable.
U only need to restart a linux machine for kernal updates.

Even if they are running a Linux server, which I'm not sure of, they must be running in command prompt. Linux is not more stable than Windows with GUI.gayannr said:yup.that stability must be the reason for even Microsoft to run a Linux Server![]()

Yeah. But it's there in Vista. Besides, there are a lot of other user levels in Windows. Only Admin and Standard user is visible in control panel.gayannr said:in Linux although u r logged as root u have to provide ur pwd for certain kind of things like u mentioned earlier(That is not with XP)

ICE said:Servers are meant run on command line.
So the resources which will be allocated for running a GUI can be allocated to run additional application.
I dont think windows can do it.

If you are a standard user, you have to put an admin password. There isn't any risk in not putting the password, because in secure desktop, nothing can attack the system.gayannr said:In vista its just a notification to ask whether u wanna continue or not,not Advanced Authentication ne?
But in classic theme, Windows hardly uses any resources.ICE said:Servers are meant run on command line.
