Feb 25, Batticaloa: The son of a prominent Sri Lankan Minister has gone on a rampage and attacked a son of a senior police officer Sunday night, local media reports from the East said.
According to the Police Media Spokesperson SSP Prishantha Jayakody, the son of Minister Maithripala Sirisena and 12 others have severely assaulted the son of Batticaloa Region Deputy Inspector General of Police Ravi Vaidyalankara at a holiday resort at Pasikuda in the Eastern Province.
The victim with severe head wounds has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the Batticaloa Hospital.
The police arrested the 13 individuals including the Minister's son Sunday night. They have been subsequently released on bail early this morning, Police Media Spokesperson said.
According to DIG Ravi Vaidyalankara, Minister's son had attempted to take photos of his son's wife at the resort and when the victim objected to that the Minister's son has assaulted him on the head.
