No, you don’t have to upgrade the motherboard. PCI Express 2.0 is backward compatible with PCI express 1.0 standard. Even though PCI Ex 1.0 has a lower bandwidth (data speed) compared to PCI Ex 2.0, you will not see any difference because PCI Ex 1.0 has more than enough bandwidth for a single card.
I don’t think the bandwidth of v2.0 is fully utilized by any card that exists today
.. Maybe in the future with faster cards it will be, and maybe if you run SLI/Crossfire dual/triple VGA cards it might help. But for you it will NOT make any difference.
