A search has been launched to locate a woman and 11 year old girl who have been allegedly abducted in Matugama and demand for half a million rupees ransom has been made , Police said.
The woman and child had gone missing after the daughter had been taken for classes in the Matugama town on Wednesday.
According to the woman’s husband he had received three calls from his wife and child saying they were safe, but those involved in the abduction had demanded a ransom of Rs 500,000.
A senior officer at the Meegahatenna police said that two teams have been deployed to find the woman and child.
